Dark Designs

I had to wait a full day after finishing Dark Designs before I could attempt this review. The experience of reading it was intense and took me to some seriously dark places, and I wasn’t sure at first how I felt about it. Now I know, and the answer is: impressed. Very impressed.

Cooking with Ergot

Cooking with Ergot is well plotted, with terrific secondary characters including Carter's crazy cousin Simon and Dominic's brother Justin. There is a fair amount of action, danger and threats to both Dominic's and Carter's life by Simon which make the story exciting, and the magical elements add another dimension. This writer has a unique voice and style of writing and she creates creepy story elements out of shadows. She strikes the right balance between being funny, romantic and sinister. If you met the main characters you would think of them as low key, certainly not flamboyant witches, until the magic enchants you. The sex was great but even in bed there were funny aspects to the lovemaking. Altogether a terrific read.

Writing a book like this one it could be really difficult since it would be easier to push on the "funny" elements, and get on the right side of the most romantic reader, or push on the creepiness, and make an enemy of that same reader. This book instead balances very well both elements and even when it's obvious that we are reading the funny side, we are always aware that there is a danger outside, but the danger remains always on the edge and for me it's better, since I'm that reader, or spectator of an horror movie, that hides behind her hands when there are the most bloody scenes...

Cooking with Ergot is a treat for romance lovers. Like mixing a delicate love potion, Luisa Prieto adds all the right ingredients in just the right order and quantity to develop an excellent romance story that hooked me right from the start and kept me turning pages all the way through. This story gave flight to my romantic fantasies and reminded me that I love "boy meets boy, boys fall in love, boys live happily ever after" erotic romances because they are food for the soul. Cooking with Ergot is just that, chicken soup for my tired, cynical soul.

Overall, Cooking With Ergot was just so dang FUN to read. There were times the story narrowly avoided being a parody, but managed to be restrained in time. I'd very much like to read another book in this series, perhaps with Dominic's brother, Justin. Either which way, Ergot is a must read!

Oh, what a pleasure it was to read Cooking with Ergot. Right off the bat I knew I’d like it. The voice is great, the word structure and usage wonderful, and the plot is superb. Ms. Prieto is an accomplished writer who knows her craft and how to use words to her advantage. Cooking with Ergot has it all: suspense, humor, thrills, sex, and fabulous characters. I can honestly say this is one of the most enjoyable books I’ve read this year.

Shadow Hunt

Shadow Hunt is a tightly written admirable work of fantasy with erotic elements. The world is well crafted to being believable, and the plot of intrigue and passion make it impossible to put down once the first page has been read.

-- Shannon Frost

The authors were able to bring out the gentle side of the Demon that most think is just pure evil. This drew me and made me want this Demon/Man to get his man no matter what.

  • Book Cravings

Shadow Hunt is an intricately plotted and well written story filled with multiple twists and turns, most of which I never expected. I love when a story keeps me guessing and this one fulfilled that desire nicely. The chemistry between Winter and Peregrine is an interesting build from enemy, to unwilling adversary and ultimately lovers and conspirators in their fight to keep Peregrine alive and intact.

Shadow Hunt is a great fantasy tale, set in a rich magical world that is inhabited by intriguing characters. L.M. Prieto and Jayson Taylor did a wonderful job creating characters that were truly interesting and plot that captures your attention from the very first word. Peregrine and Winter are both imperfect, yet very appealing; and their interactions range from hostile to curious to passionate while keeping you immersed to the story as it takes unexpected turns.

  • Just Erotica Romance Reviews

"After Dark was sinister and sensual to a point where I could literally hear an orchestra playing creepy music in the background while I was reading. That was an experience I never felt when reading a novel in the romance genre. I give Luisa M. Prieto a round of applause for her ability to create a villain who made my skin crawl."

From the erotically charged encounters between the two main characters, to the frighteningly realistic villain of the piece, she has created a mesmerizing tale that will make you shiver."

“Ms. Prieto fashioned a very interesting book. The use of ancient magic in a modern world while working in paranormal aspects was fascinating. I thought that it was attention-grabbing that both Drew and Devon were keeping secrets, but once revealed each accepted the other with love and devotion. The erotic scenes were not only hot, but also at times sweet.”

-- Teresa

L.M. Prieto gives a refreshing look and uses her imagination to produce a tale worthy of your keeper shelf. Her style of writing engages you right away and will not let you go until the very end, making you stay up all night to see what happens next.

--Elise Lyn

After Dark was phenomenal. It had brilliant twist and turns. It had superb spicy love scenes and sensational how L.M. Prieto mixes the story lines together. After Dark kept me glued to the pages until it was done making me want more in the end.

With a combination of magic, love and violence, After Dark is a wonderful read.

After Midnight

“In the second installment in her incredible series After Dark, L. M. Prieto continues the saga of magic and shifters, mages and blood sacrifice and scorching m/m sensuality. This author has an imagination that encompasses so many different strands of activity and weaves them together in each novel, that this reviewer is awe-struck. After Midnight and its prequel, After Dark, are stories that I can read and reread repeatedly and never tire of.”

-- Frost

“After Dark 2: After Midnight by L.M. Prieto is a frighteningly fascinating dark tale and erotic romance. In a world where werewolves are expected to kill mages, a werewolf and a mage fall in love.”

  • Literary Nymphs

"After Midnight is a sequel but contains plenty of information from the first story to help you get your balance on what's going on in the lives of Devon and Andrew. Both men are haunted by pasts that are intertwining with the present, and the pace quickens as the story progresses. Emotions and passion play the biggest role in the actions of these memorable characters, and the love they share holds them together."

Darkly sensual, L.M. Prieto captures your interest with the power of the story. Love is what is needed to save these two men and keep them whole and Devon is not afraid to do what ever is needed to save Andrew and their warm loving relationship.

-- Elise Lyn

After Midnight is a great paranormal romance that will grab your interest from the first page. Devon is charming with his steadfast belief in the good of people and his desire to retain his humanity despite his “heritage” within the werewolf community. Andrew is a complex man and his battle against becoming corrupted by the power he received from Tyler is fascinating to watch. ... After Midnight is great paranormal book that gathers together magic, sex and a battle of good vs. evil to create a gripping tale that will leave you wanting for more after the last page is turned.

-- Sabella

Luisa Prieto writes a gripping and compelling story. The love scenes are warm and rich with emotion and caring. I held my breath and gasped at times. The twists and turns in this story are edgy and quick. The tension is heavy with few light moments. It had me speeding to the finish.

-- Dana

These two books aren’t just romantic. They’re also creepy, scary, and exciting. I was often bouncing in my desk chair, shrieking things such as “Eeeek!” or “Devon, watch out!” or “NO, Andrew, BAD MAGE!!!” Mildly annoying for my household, maybe, but tremendously enjoyable for me."

-- Top

This is an intense book. I was immediately thrown into the story and had to figure out which way was up. I was slowly fed facts along with back histories to both main characters. I wasn’t given clues before hand and couldn’t quite figure out what was coming next. I love this style of story weaving!"
